Grey & White Gradient Cotton Linen Placemats

$ 17.55

Description Each handcrafted placemat is a piece of living history, bringing artistry to your home and carrying the ancient heritage of a Bai village in Dali, Yunnan. The story begins with threads dyed by hand with natural plant dyes, a craft that can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty and has been passed down through families for generations. The creation of each piece is a patient dialogue with time. From careful tying to repeated dyeing, every piece must go through 10 to 20 steps, taking two weeks to a month. It is a slow dance with the climate and the natural world. This singular color comes from pure, natural plant dyes. Our dyes are harvested from local plants, with each shade presenting a unique tone that changes with the seasons. This ensures that every piece is one-of-a-kind. It captures the distinct imprint of a specific day and moment, a beauty that industrial production can never achieve.
